Congratulations to the Cardinal Boys Basketball Team for their 56-41 victory over the #2 seeded Victoria Knights today in the Winter Jam. Hoisington runs their record to 7-6 after their recent back to back wins.

Due to some school cancellations and changes, we have modified our basketball schedule for today’s Winter Jam. Our Cardinal Girls basketball team will no longer be playing, but our Boys basketball team will now play at 3 PM as per the schedule below. Take off work early 😉 and come out to support our Boys as they try to follow up last night's 62-50 win over Minneapolis.

CANCELLATIONS: Due to the impending weather, our Wrestling teams will NOT be competing tomorrow or Saturday 😔 Both teams will be back in action at our own Cardinal Classic next Friday, January 30th at 3pm. In addition, the scheduled Honor Band competition for this weekend at KSU has been cancelled. Stay safe and warm!
Day 2 of the Winter Jam 🏀 Tournament has concluded. In the nightcap, Hoisington was defeated by the Reno County Sabres. The Cardinals made a gallant effort in the hectic last couple of minutes but came up on the short end 60-57. On another note, the Shriners presented Taylen Morales with his Shrine Bowl selection at halftime.


The Winter Jam Basketball Tournament begins today at 3:30 at the Activity Center. The Hoisington Boys will play Tuesday night at 6:30 and the Cardinal Girls will play their first game Friday night at 6:30. Please come out and support our teams and this quality mid-season tournament. GO CARDS!!


The Cardinal Basketball teams split their home games with Pratt tonight. The Girls edged the Greenbacks 42-41 in the opener. The Boys lost 45-34 in the nightcap. (It was the fifth ranked opponent we have played in the last month). The Boys will be back in action next Tuesday at 6:30pm in the Winter Jam. The Girls will be off until next Friday in the Semi Finals at 6:30pm. On another note, Congrats to Coach Trina Lutters on her 100th career win.

The Cardinal Wrestling teams turned in strong performances tonight in the home Round Robin tournament. The Girls team finished 2nd place (out of 16 teams) and the Boys team finished in 6th. Next week will be a busy one for both programs with tournaments in Nickerson, Beloit, and Osborne.



The Cardinal Basketball teams dropped a pair on the road to Hesston tonight. The Girls team lost 62-39 in the opener, while the Boys team lost 52-47 against the state 2nd ranked Swathers. Make plans to come out to the Activity Center Friday night as Hoisington hosts Pratt on Homecoming.

Congratulations to Tianna Lutters for signing a letter of intent with the University of St Mary (Leavenworth) to run Cross Country in the fall. Tianna has been a three-sport athlete for the Cardinals.


Congratulations to Taylen Morales for being named to the Shrine Bowl 🏈 roster. The 53rd Annual Shrine Bowl will be played at Emporia State University on Saturday, June 27th. Players are selected from schools throughout the state and Taylen will be playing on the West squad #represent

The Cardinal Boy's Wrestling team finished 7th in the 52nd annual Ellsworth Tournament today. Individual top 3 medal finishers were:

The Cardinal Basketball teams lost to state ranked Beloit last night at the Activity Center. The Girls lost 49-38 to the #9 Trojans, while the Boys lost 43-39 to their #7 ranked counterpart. Both teams will travel to Hesston on Tuesday prior to returning home next Friday against Pratt.

Congratulations to the Cardinal Basketball teams for their wins over Smoky Valley tonight. The Girls 🏀 won the opener 61-30, while the Boys defeated the Vikings 39-38 in the finale. Both teams will be back in action at home Friday against Beloit.

The Cardinal Basketball teams kicked off the new year with a home 🏀 sweep over Russell tonight. After the JV Boys won the opener, the Varsity Girls improved their record to 4-1 with a 53-34 win. The Varsity Boys then completed the trifecta with a 53-44 win over the Broncos. On another note, Congratulations to Coach Kyle Haxton for his 200th win tonight!!

Congratulations to both of our Cardinal Wrestling programs for their strong performances in Friday's home Cardinal Corner Classic. The Girls captured the title 🥇and the Boys finished in 6th place. Our first scheduled event in the New Year will be Thursday, January 8th in Larned.
