It was a long, yet successful day for Cardinal Athletics. Our Cross Country team kicked things off this morning at the Great Bend Invitational (Lake Barton) where over twenty schools competed. Brody Rossman finished in 28th place to lead the boys and Tianna Lutters finished in 24th place to lead the girls. In the afternoon, both of our girls Tennis teams were in action. Congrats to our JV team that took 1st place at the Phillipsburg Invitational while our Varsity team played well at the Larned Tournament. Heather Ward and Miette Kaiser returned home with 1st place medals in the #2 Doubles flight for the Varsity. Finally, our Volleyball teams capped off back-to-back home triangulars this week in exciting fashion tonight at the Activity Center in front of a great crowd. The Varsity swept their matches, beating Holcomb in 3 sets and dusting off Dodge City (6A) 25-17 and 25-20. The JV team split their matches with the Longhorns and Red Demons, while the C team went 2-0 against their competition.
Congratulations to our Volleyball program for a successful home opener! The C team beat SE of Saline and lost to Scott City to go 1-1. The JV team swept SE of Saline and Scott City. Our Cardinals Varsity team swept SE of Saline and Scott City as well, beating SES 25-21 and 25-17 in the nightcap following an earlier 25-8, 25-22 win over Scott City. Volleyball will be back in action at home this Thursday with 5pm starting times.
